Caring for Each Other in the Post-Industrial Era

Welcome to the Center for Sustainable Medicine!

Didi Pershouse, LAc—thinker, writer, and healer—founded this website in 2006 as a way to share ideas about sustainability and health care in one interconnected place. The Sustainable Medicine Manifesto proposes that real medicine must benefit the whole system—our communities, both human and natural. There is no need to separate the processes of healing ourselves, the environment, and our communities.

This site is updated only infrequently. For more recent information about Didi Pershouse’s work, and upcoming events related to the powerful work of microbial communities, soil health’s role in public health and climate resilience, and ecological and sustainable medicine, please visit

Our Clinic

Didi Pershouse still practices acupuncture and health counseling on a sliding scale, when she is available. Because of her teaching and public speaking schedule, she is only taking a few new patients these days, and mostly doing housecalls and working remotely for consultations.
